Participation of Homo Digitalis in the “Copyright & Access in the Age of AI” event in Cyprus.
Homo Digitalis is delighted to participate as a speaker at the event organised on Monday, 11 May, in Nicosia by Knowledge Rights 21, the Foundation for Parliamentarism and Participatory Democracy (House of Representatives – Parliament of Cyprus), and the Cyprus Association of Librarians and Information Scientists (CALIS).
Distinguished speakers will discuss issues relating to the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies by modern libraries. Through its presentation, Homo Digitalis will focus on personal data protection, the prohibition of discrimination, and the environmental footprint of the use of large language models.

Next Thursday, 14 May, we look forward to welcoming you from 18:00 to 21:00 at the Athens Bar Association (60 Akadimias Street) for Homo Digitalis’s event titled “Data, Rights & Power: In the Age of AI Hype”! Admission is free and no registration is required.
During the event, we will present our 2025 Annual Report, highlighting the organisation’s awareness-raising activities, advocacy initiatives, and legal actions throughout the past year.
In addition, we will host three Fireside Chats, where we will discuss and exchange views with the audience on our work in the field of Artificial Intelligence, specifically:

Fireside Chat No. 2: The Use of LLMs in Education: OpenAI’s Collaboration with the Ministry of Education – Commentary by Tania Skrapaliory.
Fireside Chat No. 3: Smart Traffic Enforcement Cameras: Implementation Status and Compliance Challenges – Commentary by Stergios Konstantinou.
The event is organised with the support of the European AI & Society Fund. The sessions will be moderated by Eleftherios Chelioudakis, Executive Director of Homo Digitalis.

The speech of Homo Digitalis was successfully completed at the Annual Conference of Transparency International Greece and EELLAK.
The participation of Homo Digitalis in the Annual Conference, organized by Transparency International Greece and EELLAK on January 21, was successfully completed. The conference was titled “Open Data and Artificial Intelligence: New Opportunities & Challenges in Transparency, Public Procurement and Budgets.”
Our organization was dynamically represented by our member, Tania Skrapaliοri, who took part in the 3rd panel of the conference entitled “Transparency in Practice: Proposals and Innovation Transforming Governance.”

Our NGI TALER workshop at Journals n’ Spirits 2025 was successfully completed
On November 13, we represented NGI TALER at Journals n’ Spirits 2025, which was organized by omniatv together with the initiatives Vlavi (magazine), Copwatch GR, FactReview, Femicide.gr, Homo Digitalis, INFOWAR, inside story., Jacobin Greece, KRAX Radio, The Manifold, Reporters United, Solomon, The Untold, Vouliwatch, and YUSRA (magazine/publications), at the Kypseli Municipal Market.
More specifically, Eleftherios Chelioudakis from our team presented the GNU TALER digital payments tool, which functions like digital cash and radically reshapes the ecosystem of electronic micropayments. It is based on the principles of free/libre software and strict respect for privacy, offering a new way to conduct online financial transactions while ensuring full accountability.

Participation of Homo Digitalis in a Conference on Spyware
On Friday, November 21, Homo Digitalis was represented by our member and Lawyer admitted to the Supreme Court, Melina Skondra, who delivered an outstanding contribution in the third panel of the conference “The Rule of Law Today in Greece and Europe,” on the topic: Spyware, surveillance, and human rights.
We had the honor of sharing the panel with Thanasis Koukakis, journalist and victim of surveillance, and Maria Alexandri, Lawyer admitted to the Supreme Court and member of the Research Group on Information Law at the University of Macedonia.
The conference was organized by DEMOTRUST with the support of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, under the auspices of the Centre for European Constitutional Law and syntagmawatch.gr, with ROSA MEDIA as the media sponsor.

We will be speaking on November 13 at 14:00 about digital payments and the GNU Taler tool (NGI TALER | Taler Systems S.A.), which is based on the principles of free/libre software and is reshaping the model of electronic micropayments with respect for privacy.
