Last weekend, the European Digital Rights network met for our Annual General Assembly in Warsaw, Poland! Our Co-founder and President of the BoD, Elpida Vamvaka, represented Homo Digitalis there!
The GA brought together 91 participants from 20 countries, representing 50 organisations! It was composed of 3 days of meetings and workshops to strategise about tackling the biggest DigitalRights challenges of our time!
We were thrilled to welcome Danes je nov dan, ESWA , Mnemonic, Politiscope and petites singularités as EDRi members, and Oxfam Ireland as new organisational observers to our expansive and diverse network!
Over the weekend, the General Assembly also re-elected Andrej Petrovski, Director of Tech at the SHARE Fondacija and Isabela Fernandes, Executive Director of the The Tor Project to the EDRi Board. Andrej and Isabela remain the President and the Treasurer of the Board respectively!
At a time of immense challenges in our field, from funding cuts to the ever-powerful tech lobbies amidst rising authoritarianism, seeing each other in person, exchanging solidarity and tactics, and envisioning a more just digital future together has never been more important!
A huge thank you to our hosts Fundacja Panoptykon for a warm welcome and a memorable weekend!
