Are \u20ac100 per year in a company\u2019s costs really more important than the transparency of high-risk Artificial Intelligence systems? Apparently so.<\/p>\n

With the proposed changes in the Digital Omnibus on AI Package, a very important transparency obligation concerning high-risk AI systems is set to be removed. In its analysis, the European Commission estimates that this change would reduce the costs for providers of such systems by \u20ac100 per year. Of course\u2026 that\u2019s how you improve competitiveness.<\/p>\n

Together with 66 other civil society organizations and academics, we call on Members of the European Parliament and representatives of EU Member States to do the obvious: protect Article 49(2) of the AI Act and put the protection of our rights and transparency in the age of Artificial Intelligence above minimal financial considerations that supposedly promote Europe\u2019s competitiveness.<\/p>\n
